We associate laser beam security systems with movies about art thieves and tend to think of them as the exclusive reserve of galleries, museums and perhaps billion dollar businessmen and drug lords. The fact of the matter is that many middle- to high-income homeowners are turning to lasers to protect their families from the increasing phenomena of home invasions and violent burglaries.

Many South Africans have turned their homes into veritable fortresses with sharp palisade fences, high walls and electric fences, burglar bars and security gates. We’ve tried topping walls with broken glass and barbed wire and have security gates dividing our homes into sleeping and living quarters. We do everything possible to keep our families safe and still we fall prey to criminals.
