It seems possible that in the near-future we could be living in a house that is as smarter (or in some cases smarter) than we are. For years now General Electric (GE) has been working on smart appliances, and, more importantly, pouring resources into getting the appliances within a smart home connected via a smart grid.

The electronic giant showed plans for a connected home in 2009 and has been investing in smart technology continually since then. It even set up financial awards for good ideas. The company is getting closer to its goal of developing a home that is equipped with smart technology. GE unveiled such a home at the CES 2011 which showcases what the company hopes houses of the future will be like.
